Le Guess Who? 2013
Last month, we went to Holland to check out Le Guess Who? The immaculately curated festival prides itself in pairing up artists for performances and encouraging collaborations. Among the weekend’s more unique performers was Lonnie Holley—an American improvisational musician and multi-disciplined artist. During the weekend, he entered the studio with Nigerian instrumentalist Mammane Sani Abdullaye. Among the fruits of the their session was “On My Way to Christmas.” The song pairs Holley’s textured voice with droning organ and Sani’s disco-lite bass flourishes. Quite literally the best of both worlds. Take a listen below.
You can also check out live shots of Lonnie Holley’s Le Guess Who? performance here.
