Listen: The Mountain Goats - ““You & Me & A High Balcony”

John Darnielle, musical mastermind behind The Mountain Goats, has unearthed a non-album track from 2004’s We Shall All Be Healed titled “You & Me & A High Balcony.” Discovered while “cleaning the office,” Darnielle says the track inevitably didn’t wind up on the We Shall All Be Healed because while “it shares some themes (meth, tawdry motels) [...] is formally in a pretty different ballpark and it’s also not very personal, whereas the songs that did end up making We Shall All Be Healed marked my first steps toward writing from direct experience.” Click below to listen to the song.
