Long Beard (aka Leslie Bear) is releasing a new album, Means to Me, on September 13 via Double Double Whammy. Now she has shared another song from the album, “Getting By,” via a video for the track. Tara Bayat directed the video, which features shots of Bear in nature, including some quick cuts. Watch it below, followed by Long Beard’s upcoming tour dates.

Bear had this to say about the song in a press release: “‘Getting By’ is about having an existential crisis - moving through the mundane day to day, and struggling to find purpose and meaning in life while being made to feel incompetent. I started writing this song while I was desperately looking for a job and finished it after I had been working at a job that made me question what I really wanted to be doing. The lyrical content is fairly dark, but the melodies and arrangements are more hopeful and pillowy as if reassuring me or the listener that ‘everything will be ok.’”

Previously Bear shared Means to Me‘s first single, “Sweetheart,” which was one of our Songs of the Week. Then she shared the album’s title track, “Means to Me.”

Means to Me is Bear’s second Long Beard album, the follow-up to 2015’s Sleepwalker. The album was co-produced with Japanese Breakfast collaborator Craig Hendrix.
