Lucia & The Best Boys have shared new single “Big Romance”, a collaboration with Abigail Morris of The Last Dinner Party, out now via Communion Records. A video directed by Sal Redpath and featuring both artists accompanies the release. Listen and watch below.

The baroque pop-infused track has its roots in a longstanding friendship: before Morris found fame with The Last Dinner Party, she played keyboard on Scottish dates with Lucia & The Best Boys, and Morris encouraged Lucia Fairfull to see the song through. “She’s the one who pushed me to keep going with the song,” says Fairfull. “I started writing that when I was 22. It’s lived through so many different lives.”

She adds “Being able to share these experiences with other women who understand where you’re at, what you’re doing, it’s really empowering.”

“Big Romance” is the latest single from their new album Picking Petals, due July 31st. The record was written in part in weather-beaten Scottish bothies and recorded at Mogwai’s Castle of Doom studios in Glasgow with alt-pop producer Yves Rothman. Its release follows festival appearances at The Great Escape, Get Together and Dot to Dot.

The album arrives ahead of Lucia’s biggest headline show to date, at Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland on 23 October, with further dates in Manchester and London to follow. Festival appearances are scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
