Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig Truly Live Tiny in the First Trailer for Alexander Payne’s “Downsizing”

In Downsizing, the new film from Alexander Payne (Election, Sideways, The Descendants, Nebraska), the solution to solving the world’s problems (over-population, global warming, happiness) is to simply get shrunk. In your new shrunken size your life savings turn to millions and you can live in mansions the size of dollhouses. The one catch is that it’s permanent, once you’re small you can’t go big again. Talk about tiny living! Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig play a couple who go through the procedure and move to a shrunken city, joining Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, and Jason Sudeikis. The film opened the Venice Film Festival two weeks ago to rave reviews and now the first trailer has been shared. It’s fittingly soundtracked by Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime.” Payne rarely makes a bad film and this one appears to be his most ambitious undertaking yet. No doubt there is something else afoot and getting shrunk has some unexpected consequences, but the first trailer is fairly positive about the whole experience. Watch it below.
