New Jersey’s Molly Ringworm seem to have a knack for crafting timeless noise pop. Their latest single “Passenger Princess” arrives ahead of their debut album Perfect Dog, and it’s a striking piece of songwriting. Sarah Holt’s mellifluous vocals carry the song with a mix of wistfulness and passion, delicate one moment, soaring the next while the band’s guitars churn beneath with a kind of off-kilter grunge-fuelled grace. It’s somewhere between Liz Phair’s unvarnished honesty and The Breeders’ raw energy, with a touch of road-worn melancholy thrown in.

Holt has been recording under the Molly Ringworm name since 2015, first as a solo project before it expanded into a full band featuring her cousin Johnny Zappas on guitar, Andrew Simpson on bass, and Michael Auble on drums. Based around Atlantic City, the quartet specialise in pairing sharp, diaristic lyrics with arrangements that walk the line between noise and melody.

Their collaboration with Kidokoro Records founder Oscar Suh-Rodriguez began in 2020, leading to the Seems EP in 2022. The forthcoming album Perfect Dog, recorded live at Retromedia Studios and due out on October 24, 2025, explores ideas of control when to hold on and when to let things slip.
