Cameron Picton, formerly of black midi, has a new band with the amusing name My New Band Believe and they have announced their self-titled debut album. They have also shared the new single, “Numerology,” which actually isn’t on the regular version of the album. They have also announced some tour dates. My New Band Believe is due out April 10 via Rough Trade. Below, check out “Numerology,” followed by the album details and tour dates.

The group also features Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble, and Andrew Cheetham.

Black midi called it quits in 2023. His former bandmate, Geordie Greep, released his debut solo album, The New Sound, the following year, but Picton was in less of a hurry to release new music.

The press release picks up the story: “My New Band Believe’s debut album began as a fever dream. Delirious in a Chinese hotel room, Cameron Picton was battling through the worst of a sudden illness when he was overcome by flashes of weird imagery and loose ribbons of scrambled text. The musician would later salvage and shape some of these fragments into songs, but the one that lodged most clearly in his mind was the odd phrase, ‘My New Band Believe.’”
