Back in May Neon Indian (aka Alan Palomo) shared a new single entitled “Annie,” but there was no word on a new album. Today Palomo has finally announced the follow-up to 2011’s Era Extraña and shared a new single from it. VEGA INTL. Night School will be out on October 16 via Mom + Pop. Below you can stream the upbeat new single “Slumlord.”

With VEGA INTL. Night School Palomo combines the more lo-fi Neon Indian approach with the more straight-up dance nature of his other recording moniker VEGA, merging the two projects into one. The album also includes “Annie” and was recorded in a variety of locations, including in a cruise ship cabin, at DFA’s Plantain Studios in New York, at Pure X’s practice space in Austin, and in Ben Allen’s studio in Atlanta. It was mixed in Brooklyn by Alex Epton (XXXchange).

Palomo explains the album title in a press release, saying: “Most of what I’ve learned about human nature in my 20s has happened after dark. People are just kind of more honest then. More deliberate. I like to call the places I go to Night Schools.”

Neon Indian’s website has been relaunched as Nightschool.biz and it features a hotline (+1-512-643-VEGA) you can call to receive and send audio of “Slumlord” and a special voice greeting about the album.
