Nina Persson of The Cardigans and A Camp has shared a new song, “Var ligger Sverige?” It’s apparently the first single to have the Swedish native singing in her own language (and it’s true, all of The Cardigans’ albums were in English). The song features Thomas Öberg (of bob hund), Moto Boy, and !Regeringen. Listen to it below.
Since most of our readers likely don’t speak English, a press release describes the song as such: “‘Var ligger Sverige?’ speaks with a contemporary voice about democracy, citizenship, refugees and the importance to talk to each other about our common society. It is all that and also just a really good pop song.”
The track is taken from an upcoming collaborative 5-song EP due out March 9 on Adrian Recordings and featuring the aforementioned Persson, Öberg, Moto Boy, and !Regeringen, as well as JOY, Panda da Panda, Kristin Amparo, and Selma Modéer Wiking, all going under the collective name Medborgarbandet. Medborgarbandet is inspired by Persson’s previous contemporary cabaret work in the U.S. with The Citizens Band (which also featured at various points Zoe Kravitz, Karen Elson, Zoey Deschanel, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and others).
