This morning the nominations for the 2019 Academy Awards were announced. Two music-related films were nominated for Best Picture: Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star Is Born. Rami Malek was nominated for playing Freddie Mercury in the former and Lady Gaga was nominated for her performance in the latter. Lady Gaga was also nominated for Best Original Song for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born and Kendrick Lamar was among the nominees for the song “All the Stars,” from Black Panther. The seven films nominated for Best Picture were Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born, and Vice.
