PJ Harvey Confirms Album Details
Sets a Date for Upcoming LP
After teasing fans for a week about a super-exclusive announcement, PJ Harvey finally quit playing hard to get. Indie rock’s brooding princess confirmed today the title and release date for her eighth studio album, Let England Shake, which will hit shelves February 14th, 2011. This latest LP marks Harvey’s first solo release since 2007’s White Chalk (Harvey put out a collaborative album, A Woman A Man Walked By, with John Parish in 2009). According to her website, Let England Shake was recorded in a 19th century church in the county of Dorset, England, where the sharp-tongued songstress spent most of her childhood. Harvey had longtime friends and collaborators Flood—who’s also well-revered for his work with Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and The Smashing Pumpkins—Parish, and Mick Harvey co-produce the album, with Flood mixing it as well. Although White Chalk split PJ Harvey fans down the middle, marking a rather drastic musical departure for the hard-edged yet charmingly lo-fi musician, we can always expect Harvey to deliver something worth talking about.
Unfortunately, the shows for Harvey’s supporting tour, which include stops in Brussels, Paris, Berlin, and London’s Troxy on February 27th and 28th, are completely sold out—the girl is just that good.
