San Francisco dream pop duo Dissolve (Inna Kurikova and Blaine Patrick) is readying a self-titled EP, due out next month on Painter Man. “Statement” is our first taste of the release, and it picks up where Kurikova and Patrick left off with their prior band, the blissed-out Modern Charms. A study in sugary abrasion, the song brings to mind The Swirlies and the Creation label’s heyday; true to classic shoegaze form, it seems to mutate into something more sinister when played at higher volumes.
