Premiere: Glass Ghost – “Wait A Second”
LYFE Due Out 9/16 on Western Vinyl
Aug 05, 2014 Glass Ghost
Since releasing Idol Omen as Glass Ghost in 2009, Michael Johnson and Eliot Krimsky have done time in Dirty Projectors and Here We Go Magic, respectively. Recently, Krimsky and Johnson regrouped, expanded Glass Ghost to a quartet and recorded their longtime-coming sophomore LP, LYFE (due out 9/16 on Western Vinyl). “Wait A Second,” a cut taken from their forthcoming record, features eerily processed, immediately striking vocals. The intricate rhythmic bedding beneath it is just as noteworthy, though. It allows the song to somehow feel simultaneously lush and minimal, sleekly contoured but strangely warm. Krimsky and Johnson probably know the catalogues of Kraftwerk and Eno inside and out, but they have an equally thorough understanding of modern R&B. Check out our premiere of “Wait A Second” below.
