Brooklyn-based indie rock outfit Glom returned last year with a string of new singles teasing his third full-length album, Below, due out later this week. After releasing his 2019 debut album, Bond, his 2020 sophomore record, Merit, and a pair of subsequent EPs, Below is singer/songwriter Sean Dunnevant’s first solo release as Glom. The album finds him once again pulling from both ‘90s alt rock and the ongoing wave of buzzy shoegaze acts, while also lacing the roiling guitars and crunchy melodies with a newly personal lyrical frame.

“As a whole, the record is a snapshot of my life,” Glom says. “The stories are true and only slightly exaggerated. Except ‘Doxycycline.’ That one is one hundred percent true!”

Today, ahead of the album’s release, Glom is sharing a final single from the record, “Teeth,” premiering with Under the Radar.

“Teeth” trades off between moody and melodic territory, weaving Glom’s freefloating vocal melodies between churning layers of guitar and twinkling instrumental accents. Glom settles into this bleary swirl of tones, his vocals tumbling in elliptical hypnotic patterns as the verses churn away. The chorus crashes in atop punchy hooks and roiling drums, letting loose the tension stirring beneath the surface as Glom cries out “I want a reason to leave / Give me a reason to leave.”

Glom says of the track, “‘Teeth’ is about wanting an excuse to uproot your whole life and start new, but never actually doing it.”
