Premiere: Henry Wolfe – “Miracle Mile”
Encino EP is Due Out Nov 11
Oct 29, 2014 Henry Wolfe
On November 11, L.A. singer/songwriter Henry Wolfe will follow up his 2011 album, Linda Vista, with the release of his new EP, Encino. Produced by Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Devendra Banhart), the EP comprises two Wolfe-penned tracks, “Encino” and “Miracle Mile,” along with covers of Arthur Russell’s “Your Motion Says” and Harry Nilsson’s “All I Think About Is You.”
Wolfe will celebrate Encino’s release with a performance at L.A.’s Bootleg Theater on November 11, along with special guest Aaron Embry. Check out our premiere of “Miracle Mile,” wherein Wolfe contemplates the mystery of love, set against a western-noir sonic atmosphere. “Miracle Mile,” as well as the songs on Wolfe’s forthcoming LP (due 2015), was written while he was living near Monterey. He moved there for a period to be closer to his girlfriend in Big Sur.
“The relationship that prompted me to leave L.A. was still new at that point, and moving was a leap of faith,” Wolfe explains. “I was trying to make sense of the phenomenon of falling in love. It’s neat and tidy in movies and romance novels but the real thing can be confusing and messy. The song is about that ambivalence.”
