Premiere: Ilton Releases New Single “The Game”
Potential EP Coming September 24th
Alt-pop artist, Ilton got his start writing and producing all the way back in 2012 before releasing his debut solo singles in 2018. Over this summer he’s steadily been sharing new singles from his upcoming debut EP, Potential. Today, ahead of the EP’s release later this week, Ilton has shared one final single, “The Game,” premiering with Under the Radar.
Featuring production by electronic artist and producer Aguava, “The Game” throws back to the psychedelic indie pop of the early 2010s, landing in a similar vein as MGMT or Phoenix. The track also serves as the introduction to the EP, bringing the opening moments to life with bright melodies, steady dance rhythms, and sunny washes of electro pop synths. These combine with the track’s hopeful and introspective lyrics, which see Ilton reflecting on failure and new beginnings. The result is an irresistible feel-good dancefloor filler.
Ilton delves into the lyrics, saying of the song, “We have been given this strange reassurance that at some point everything figures out itself. I have never felt that this is the case. I wake up discovering a new part of myself and I am constantly given lessons through wins and losses. This track really is about never feeling that you can’t start over. Like the lyrics say best: “This isn’t complicated, It begins with me, myself and I, and if the game I’m gonna lose, the game I can restart.”
Check out the song below and watch for the Potential EP, coming September 24th.
