Premiere: Mac Lloyd Shares New Track “Home”
New Album Hold Fast is Out November 21st via Soul Jam Audio Recordings

Later this week, UK-based artist and producer Mac Lloyd is set to share his debut album, Hold Fast. The record follows a prolific string of EPs, across which Lloyd has cemented a polished blend of influences and warm, earthen aesthetic, dipping into the worlds of neo-soul, blues, and hip hop. Hold Fast sees him leaning into smooth blues guitar grooves, honeyed melodies, and decadent soul production, while also leaving space for moments of introspection.
Lloyd explains, “Hold Fast is about my progression as a person and a musician through the years. ‘Hold fast’ is the McLeod family motto and has multiple meanings that apply to the narrative of this album. One of which being to persist in something despite facing adversity and hardship. Since becoming Mac Lloyd I have faced many changes and challenges in life, overcoming addiction, losing loved ones and family members, meeting a lifesaver of a partner, becoming a father, becoming homeless whilst trying to raise a family, etc., but throughout all of this, I continued to create and release music. Besides my incredible family, it was one of the few things that helped me continue and process everything that has happened, or was going to.”
Today, ahead of the album’s release, Lloyd is sharing an early listen to the track, “Home,” premiering with Under the Radar.
“Home” comes off like a warm retreat from the caustic outside world, pulling the listener into a bygone era soundtracked by smooth soul grooves, woozy organ runs, and Lloyd’s road-weathered vocal tones. Lloyd steeps the track in organic instrumentation and intimate production, giving it a slick ‘70s undercurrent and a simmering glow. The highlight comes in its final leg when Lloyd carries the track to an end with a swaggering and swooning guitar solo. Meanwhile, he sings of the warmth and solace that homecoming represents, leaning into the track’s sun-dappled nostalgia but tempering it with a world-weary sincerity.
Lloyd says of the track, “‘Home’ is the final chapter of my debut album Hold Fast. It marks the end of a decade in my life, one that comes full circle as I move back home, reluctantly returning to the very place I once willingly ran away from. The broken home, the strained relationships, the run-down streets and buildings that still hold my memories. But through this homecoming, I found something unexpected: clarity, peace and understanding. What began as a reluctant step backward becomes a moment of healing; a chance to rebuild and begin again in the place that made me who I am.”
