Premiere: Oxford Drama Mixtape (Open’er Festival Edition)
July 1-4 in Gdynia, Poland
Jun 26, 2015 mixtapes
Festival season is in full swing here in Europe. The next on our list is Open’er in Gdynia, Poland, a four day festival that includes sets from Under the Radar Favorites St. Vincent, alt-j, and Father John Misty. (We went last year and had a lot of fun.)
Ahead of the event, we asked a few bands performing that you might not be quite so familiar with, to make us mixtapes. The first one in the series comes from Oxford Drama. The Polish electro pop proved their fine taste by including cuts from Yumi Zouma, Braids, and Jamie xx among others.
“We wanted to share with you the mood that accompanies us while we work on our debut LP,” says the band of their mix. “Some time ago, we created a world of our own that is being filled with sketches of new songs, our favorite music and the idea of how we want to preserve on our album this summer calmness and happiness we feel. Although you still have to wait for something new from us (don’t worry, it is coming really soon!), we can pass on this mixtape which is a sample of this world. Creating this for you guys was another step for us in realizing that we’re doing what we love, but also that some day, in more or less distant future, we will be spinning records on a dancefloor as legitimate DJs, so thanks for the opportunity.”
Listen to the mix below. If you’re joining us in Poland, head over to Open’er’s official website for the full lowdown on lineup and tickets.
