This Friday, Lakeshore Records will release Halt and Catch Fire – Original Television Score Soundtrack on digital platforms. The show—chronicling the innovations of technology in Texas’ Silicon Prairie during the early days of personal computers—will debut the first two episodes of its third season on AMC on August 23rd.
Halt and Catch Fire is scored by veteran composer Paul Haslinger, who was formerly a member of the pioneering electronic group—and film scorers—Tangerine Dream. (Haslinger contributed to several of the group’s classic scores, including Near Dark and UTR favorite Miracle Mile.) Haslinger took inspiration for the show’s score from the 1980s’ early PC era portrayed in the series:
“Music sets the vibe and provides a musical connection between the characters, their highs and lows,” Haslinger says. “As the audience witnesses their fortunes and misfortunes, music is there to support that experience.”
We’re excited to premiere Haslinger’s track, “It Speaks,” from the show’s soundtrack album. Take a listen to the song’s entrancing synth vibes in our stream below:
The soundtrack arrives digitally on August 19th, with a CD release coming September 16th from Lakeshore Records. Halt and Catch Fire returns for its third season on AMC on Tuesday, August 23rd, with two back-to-back new episodes. You can check out a behind-the-scenes featurette for the new season below:
