Premiere: Rob Simonsen - “The Test” from the Gifted soundtrack
Digital Soundtrack Will Be Released Alongside Movie on April 7th

This Friday marks the release of Gifted, a new drama starring Chris Evans and Octavia Spencer, alongside its soundtrack album from Lakeshore Records. The movie’s score is by Rob Simonsen, whose NERVE soundtrack we previewed not long ago, a composer known for his work on films such as Life of Pi, The Age of Adaline, and Foxcatcher. The soundtrack will release digitally on Friday, April 7th.
Below we have an exclusive premiere for “The Test,” piece of Simonsen’s original score for the new movie. This song, a calming-yet-lively piano composition, is a far cry from the pulsing electronic score of his recent NERVE soundtrack, and a testament to his range as a composer:
Starring Chris Evans, McKenna Grace, and Octavia Spencer, Gifted is centered on seven-year-old Mary, a mathematical genius who has already mastered calculus by the first grade. Her uncle and guardian, Frank, wants to give her a normal life and send her to public schools, while her grandmother battles for custody so that she can be enrolled in special programs that will prepare her for a career in math-relaed fields. Fox Searchlight will release the film on April 7th.
