Premiere: Sunder - “Cursed Wolf” Video
Self-Titled Debut Out Now
Nov 25, 2015 Sunder
French hard rock four-piece Sunder (formerly known as The Socks) has just released its self-titled debut album, with psychedelic jammer “Cursed Wolf” as the album’s first single. The track is a tour de force of organ and guitar fury, and the shape-shifting colorful animation of the video below befits the song to a tee. It’s as visually stunning as the song is intense.
“We wanted something different than what you usually see in videos today.” Says bassist Vincent Melay. “When Simon [Bonnefay, director] talked about his idea of an animated video, showing the journey of the wolf, we knew that it would be a perfect fit for this song. He totally understood the feeling of the song, while adding his modern and graphic point of view.”
Says Bonnefay of the video: “This is not a linear story, but more of a variation on different patterns. I understand ‘Cursed Wolf’ as an irrepressible desire of the mankind to go back to the wildness, the freedom. It’s not only about the wolf as an animal, but more about the untamedness of the beast.”
