On “Perfect Love,” L.A.‘s TÜLIPS summon a furious sense of forward motion that seems to reverberate long after the sub-two-minute single ends. You could try applying plenty of prefixes and suffixes to the track (riot-, -gaze, etc.); however, none of them would accurately summarize this splattered pop mess of smeary vocals and guitars that wrench and splinter like glass breaking on pavement. It makes you sort of wish someone else hadn’t already coined the phrase barbed wire kisses—it’d be a near-perfect catchall for the violent desires and relentless allure that power “Perfect Love.”

The song will be featured on the forthcoming full-length Doom & Bloom, which is due out November 13 on Lolipop. Check out our premiere right here.
