Prince – Unreleased Track “With This Tear” Shared in Honor of the 10th Anniversary of His Death
Song Recorded in 1991
Apr 21, 2026
Today marks 10 years since Prince tragically died. To mark that, the Prince Estate has shared the previously unreleased track “With This Tear.” The single is out now via NPG Records, in partnership with Legacy Recordings. Watch and listen below.
The song was recorded in November 1991 but Prince’s version was never released until now. Instead he offered the song to Celine Dion, who recorded and released her own version in 1992.
Prince produced, arranged, composed, and performed all instrumentation on the song. Engineer/producer Chris James newly mixed and mastered the track.
From June 3-7 there will be a Prince celebration in downtown Minneapolis and at Paisley Park, dubbed “10th Anniversary Celebration of Life.” It will feature members of Prince’s bands The New Power Generation and The Revolution together on stage (including Bobby Z, Lisa Coleman, joining Morris Hayes, Tevin Campbell, Tony M, Levi Seacer, Sonny T, Cora Coleman, Cassandra O’Neal, Greg Boyer, and Kenni Holmen). Other performers throughout the week will include Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Miguel, Kat Graham, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness, Bilal, and El DeBarge.
In 2023, Prince’s 1991 album Diamonds & Pearls was reissued.
A previously unreleased Prince album, Welcome 2 America, was released in 2021.
