Essex-based indie rock band She’s In Parties have just dropped their latest single, The Times, a reflective track that explores lead vocalist Katie Dillon’s frustrations with the social media-driven music industry of today. The single serves as the third glimpse into their forthcoming EP, Puppet Show, set for release on October 25th via Submarine Cat Records. Accompanying the release is a perspicacious and emotionally resonant video directed by Polocho, alongside the announcement of their UK tour kicking off this November.
“This song is about my internal battle with the social media era,” says Dillon. “I had to rethink my expectations of being a musician and get with ‘the times’—if I don’t adapt, someone else will.”
Known for their ethereal blend of shoegaze and chimimg dream-pop, She’s In Parties is fronted by Irish-born Katie Dillon (vocals/guitar), with Herbie Wiseman (guitar), Matt Carman (drums), and Charlie Johnson (bass) completing the lineup.
The upcoming EP is the band’s most politically driven body music yet. “It’s a timeless topic, people have always and will always sing about injustices, often though, people want an escape and sing about things like love because sometimes that’s easier than telling the truth.” Katie says, “I’m certainly not a political person and would opt for escapism in music, but sometimes there are things that happen in our society or on social media that you just can’t avoid. They’ve been plaguing my mind especially, so I’ve been writing about this stuff a lot more and it has now become a prevalent theme in this next EP.”
