Tame Impala Announces New Album
Sophomore Album Entitled Lonerism
Jun 27, 2012 Tame Impala
Following his 2010 debut Innerspeaker, Tame Impala has announced that his forthcoming sophomore effort will be called Lonerism. Providing a snippet of music in new teaser trailer, with video featuring frontman Kevin Parker performing live and bungee jumping, the new album is expected to see release sometime this year quite soon.
In a recent interview with Under the Radar Parker said that ”If I’ve learned anything through making music, it’s that no one ever hears the same thing. I think this time, I was giving into temptation a little bit and doing whatever feels right at that moment, the difference with the first album being that I had a lot of rules that I set for myself. There was pop music and non-pop music and stuff that it’s good to like and stuff you’re not meant to like. I’m talking about your candy-sounding pop, which is one of my fetishes, like really sugary pop. But I could never do it, because I feel like I’m the only one that’s going to like it. But at the same time, I have a fetish for really fucked up and confusing and weird music. Letting the two of those run free, I hope that’s what people will hear, but I have no idea. For me, it’s a combination of nice sugary pop crossed with really fucked-up explosive cosmic music. It’s like Britney Spears singing with The Flaming Lips.”
