
The Afghan Whigs Announce First Album in 16 Years, “Do to the Beast”

Following a reunion tour back in 2012, The Afghan Whigs have announced the release of Do to the Beast. The follow-up to the band’s 1965 it will be the group’s first album in 16 years and will be out April 15 in North America and April 14 in Europe (that’s the album art). The release marks the band’s return to Sub Pop who distributed the group’s 1990 album Up In It as well as 1992’s Congregation and Uptown Avondale EP.
Word of the new record was first broken by, of all people, Mr. Show/Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk via Twitter.
The Afghan Whigs are scheduled to play both weekend’s of this year’s Coachella.
