David Bowie
Greg Dulli of The Afghan Whigs (and Twilight Singers) has released a cover of David Bowie‘s “Modern Love.” The original song was featured on the late singer’s 1983 hit album Let’s Dance. The cover is a free download available on Dulli’s website or in the player below. Dulli also has a bunch of upcoming tour dates, which are below and include a newly announced February 3rd show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
“I tried to record this song with the Whigs a while back and we just couldn’t get it the way I wanted it,” Dulli said of the cover in a press release. “With his passing last week, I was reminded of it and decided to finish it myself. The world is filled with love for David Bowie right now. It feels good. I feel inspired by his life.”
The press release also reveals that The Afghan Whigs are working on a new album for release via Sub Pop later this year.
As we previously reported, Bowie passed away last Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer. His death came as something of a shock, as his cancer diagnosis was not made public and only two days before his death he released a new album, Blackstar (styled as ★). Below is the cover, the tour dates, and Bowie’s original.
