The National to Open for President Barack Obama

The National announced via Twitter this morning that they will be performing as an opening act to President Barack Obama when he visits Des Moines, IA on Sept. 1. The National have been well-known supporters of the President for some time, having opened for him back during the 2008 campaign, allowed use of their song “Fake Empire” in a ad, and even designed a t-shirt for cause.
