Quentin Tarantino
Quentin Tarantino’s movies generally have pretty cool soundtracks. If you went to college in the 1990s there’s a good chance the soundtracks to Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown got some spins in your dorm room. His much-anticipated new motion picture, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, is due out tomorrow via Columbia Pictures and now the soundtrack has just been announced. It’s also due out tomorrow, via Columbia Records. Befitting the film’s 1969 setting, it features a lot of songs from that decade. Check out the full tracklist below. Above is the soundtrack’s cover art.
The soundtrack will be released digitally, as well as on CD and vinyl. A press release lays out the different vinyl versions: “Available on release weekend is a small-batch limited-edition vinyl available exclusively at Amoeba Records in Hollywood and Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema. There is a wider vinyl release this fall, with the Deluxe Vinyl (220 gram heavyweight ‘tequila sunrise’ colored vinyl, gatefold package with four 11x17 numbered posters, a Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 24x36 poster and one Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 11x17 Map); an Indie Retail exclusive (180 gram heavyweight orange vinyl, gatefold package with a Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 24x36 poster and one Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 11x17 Map), and the Standard Vinyl which includes a Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 11x17 Map.”
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as TV actor Rick Dalton, with Brad Pitt as his stunt double and friend Cliff Booth. The film takes place in Los Angeles in 1969 and is littered with real life figures, such as Margot Robbie as the doomed Sharon Tate, Mike Moh as Bruce Lee, Damon Herriman as Charles Manson, Nicholas Hammond as Sam Wanamaker, and Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen.
The packed cast also features Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Scoot McNairy, Lena Dunham, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, and the late Luke Perry (who had finished filming his role before his passing). Tarantino writes and directs and the film is his first since 2015’s The Hateful Eight.
