The gently guitar-wielding, sweetly lo-fi outfit The Wooden Birds—led by American Analog Set frontman Andrew Kenny—announced this week their sophomore LP Two Matchsticks. The follow-up to the 2009 debut Magnolia, Two Matchsticks is currently slated for a June 7 release.

A true bedroom record, Two Matchsticks was written entirely by Kenny, recorded at home, and mixed at Austin’s Resonate Studio. Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, members of Ola Podrida, and Wooden Birds touring members Matt Pond and Leslie Sisson—who also takes a solo turn on a track—contributed to the album.

Kenny and Co. also announced this week their batch of performances at the upcoming SXSW fest. If you’re going to be slumming on Sixth Street in Austin that week, look out for these Wooden Birds shows (posted below), where the band will bothpreview new material and dig out some American Analog Set favorites from the archives.

THE WOODEN BIRDS SXSW APPEARANCES:
Sunday 3/13 @ Club DeVille, Found Footage Festival, 8:30 *free show
Thursday 3/17 @ Homeslice, 2:15 *free show
