UK songwriter and producer Katie Nicholas has released her new EP Chemistry via her independent label, Ladybird Records. The four-track collection revisits songs she wrote as a teenager, reworking and producing them herself in a project she describes as “the record my younger self would have dreamt of making.”

Originally written between the ages of 16 and 19, the songs are among her earliest and most recognised by fans. The title track “Chemistry” first gained traction in 2013 after Nicholas uploaded a self-made Valentine’s Day music video to YouTube, quickly going viral and launching her onto the UK country-indie pop scene.

The EP marks a return to material that had been previously removed from digital platforms during a period of mentorship and reassessment of her artistic direction. After several years away from releasing music, Nicholas has reasserted creative control by producing and releasing Chemistry independently.

In the years since her early success, Nicholas has performed at events including the C2C London pop-up, supported The Shires and Ward Thomas at Bush Hall, and reached No.1 and No.3 on the UK/Ireland Country Hotdisc chart. She has also recorded in Nashville as part of Whispering Bob Harris’s ‘Under The Apple Tree’ sessions and appeared in an SSL Audio advertisement.

Live performance has remained a constant in her career, with sold-out shows including a recent headline appearance at Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room. Despite the limited availability of recorded material in recent years, she continues to maintain an active presence through her long-running YouTube series
