Vampire Weekend’s Sophomore Album Contra Debuts at #1
Band Has Its Best Sales Week Ever

Under the Radar “Best of 2008” cover artist Vampire Weekend is back with sophomore album, Contra. The court of public opinion has weighted in, and as reported by Billboard.com, the album has debuted as number 1 via Nielsen SoundScan numbers.
Not only has the band achieved their best week of sales to date (124,000 for those keeping score) but Contra is only the 12th independently disturbed album to crack the top Billboard 200 since the list’s inception in May of 1991.
