Arctic Monkeys released a new album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, back in May via Domino. Last night the band stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform the album’s “The Ultracheese.” The performance was filmed in black & white and Alex Turner sported a shaved head. Watch it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.
The band didn’t share any advance music ahead of the album, so fans got to discover the whole album for the first time upon its release. But then “Four Out of Five” emerged as the album’s first single (it was one of our Songs of the Week). The band performed it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and shared a video for the song also directed by Ben Chappell and Aaron Brown. It had a kind of 1970s/early 1980s Stanley Kubrick vibe to it. They also performed “She Looks Like Fun” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Previously they also shared a trailer for the album. Then they shared a video for its title track, “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino,” which was filmed in and around Reno, Nevada.
It’s been five years since their last album, 2013’s AM. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is the British band’s sixth album, was recorded in Los Angeles, Paris, and London, and was produced by James Ford and Turner.
