Following the release of his latest album Patch the Sky last month, Bob Mould has shared the video for his latest single “Hold On.” It was the first track written for the album as Mould secluded himself for six months to fight his personal demons. In the video, directed by Alicia J. Rose, Mould watches himself on TV in alternate universe playing in a bar for what the press release describes as “bearded doppelgangers all in plaid, and even a gentleman in white formalwear toasting a life sized rat.” The song started out in 2013 as a downtempo acoustic track but has since transformed into an anthem of hope. Even in the darkest days, Mould says you have to keep going strong and fight on to brighter days.

Before Mould and his band start their tour in Madison, WI a week from today, he will play a solo electric headlining set for the grand opening of Seattle’s own KEXP and their brand new home. The band will also be making an April 25th stop at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
