Watch Lizzo Perform Three Songs in a Tiny Desk Concert
She Did “Cuz I Love You,” “Truth Hurts,” and “Juice” (Plus Watch the “Tempo” Video Feat. Missy Elliott)
Jul 29, 2019 Lizzo
Minneapolis-based singer/rapper Lizzo (aka Melissa Jefferson) released her new album, Cuz I Love You, back in April via Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic. Now she has stopped by NPR Music to perform three songs as part of their Tiny Desk Concert series. She performed “Cuz I Love You,” “Truth Hurts,” and “Juice.” For the uninitiated, Tiny Desk Concerts are stripped down sets recorded at the desk of Bob Boilen, the host of NPR’s All Songs Considered. Watch the session below. Also below is the video for “Tempo,” which Lizzo shared on Friday and which features Missy Elliott.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, so I think I’ll do it today,” Lizzo exclaimed at the start of the session at the “tiny ass desk.” And yes, she played a fantastic flute solo during “Juice.”
“Juice” made it to #2 on our Songs of the Week list. She also performed the song on Ellen in an energetic performance that found the singer going into the audience with her dancers and also performing a, you guessed it, flute solo.
