Last night Madonna released a new short film titled secretprojectrevolution, kicking Art for Freedom, an artist campaign described as being “an online global initiative to further freedom of expression.” During the launch event at New York City’s Gagosian Gallery, Madonna herself took the stage for a piece of theater art, getting dragged across the floor in handcuffs by two men dressed as prison guards. While on the floor she performed a piano-accompanied cover of Elliot Smith’s “Between the Bars.” Captured by someone in the audience and posted online, video of the performance is available below.
