Watch Mulder and Scully in New Teaser Trailer for New “The X-Files” Miniseries
"Are you Ready for this Scully?" (Plus, The Lone Gunmen are Returning)
Jul 24, 2015
David Duchovny
The X-Files is returning to TV on January 24, 2016 with a six-episode event series on FOX starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. We were previously treated to some photos from the show and a short teaser trailer, and last night during Wayward Pines’ season finale FOX aired a new teaser trailer for the new X-Files. Like the last one, it’s way too short at only 17 seconds and doesn’t reveal much, but unlike the last one you do briefly get to see Mulder and Scully talk to each other. “Are you ready for this Scully?” Mulder asks. “I don’t know there’s a choice,” Scully replies.
In other X-Files news, it was revealed yesterday by Televised Revolution that the beloved conspiracy theory trio known as The Lone Gunmen would be returning for the revival. Played by Bruce Harwood (as John Fitzgerald Byers), Tom Braidwood (as Melvin Frohike), and Dean Haglund (as Richard Langly), the characters were killed off in The X-Files’ final season in 2002 (although in a later X-Files comic book series it was revealed they faked their own deaths). They had their own short-lived 2001 spinoff series The Lone Gunmen, which only aired one season. The pilot episode of The Lone Gunmen aired on March 4, 2001 and famously featured the heroes stopping a plot to crash a jetliner into the Twin Towers sixth months prior to that actually happening on 9/11. In the episode the plane is taken over via remote computer control, which The Lone Gunmen is able to fix moments before it hits one of the towers. The plot was hatched by rogue elements in the U.S. government hoping to increase arms sales to the Middle East.
