Shamir has shared a fun new video for “In For the Kill.” In it he pilots a UFO and drops cassette tapes from the sky. Anthony Sylvester directed the clip (he also did Shamir’s videos for “On the Regular” and “Darker”), which was inspired by the “balloon boy” UFO hoax. Rookie Mag premiered it and you can watch it below.
The song can be found on Shamir’s debut album, Rachet, released earlier this year via XL. In a press release Shamir said “In For the Kill” is about “making sacrifices to do things that make you happy. For me, that’s making and playing music. I had to leave a lot of things back in Vegas in order to do music - family, friends, certain trinkets I collect because I’m a very sentimental person. When you make music, you almost have to disappear and go deep inside yourself so that you can come back and give people something that feels honest to you. ‘In For the Kill’ is a song for me to show that what I’m doing is not an easy thing. It’s something that I have to work hard towards.”
