Still Corners
Still Corners released a criminally under-appreciated dream-pop album in 2013 via Sub Pop, Strange Pleasures, their sophomore album. The male/female American/British duo of Greg Hughes and Tessa Murray are releasing their third album, Dead Blue, today via the band’s own label, Wrecking Light Records. In honor of release day the band has shared a new video for “Down With Heaven and Hell.” The atmospheric and stylish video features Murray singing the song while various images and textures are superimposed on her. Watch it below, followed by their upcoming tour dates.
A press release says the song “traces the fatal battle between good and evil, a reoccurring theme on Dead Blue and summed up with the lyric, ‘it’s a long way down, Icarus…’” Hughes elaborates: “My dear friend struggled with that battle his whole life and eventually lost. I wished I could have helped more but sometimes someone is just going to drive that car straight off the cliff and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s my favorite song on the album.”
Previously Still Corners had also shared the video for the album’s first single, “Lost Boys.” Back in March Murray wrote a My Inner Geek guest blog post for us about Star Trek: The Next Generation and you can read that here.
