Watch: Trailer for “Memphis,” Starring Willis Earl Beal
New Album Nobody Knows Out Sept. 10
Aug 23, 2013
Willis Earl Beal
On Sept. 10 Willis Earl Beal will release his new album Nobody Knows, but that’s not the only project that will be featuring the talented blues/soul artist. Later this month at the Venice Film Festival Beal will make his acting debut in the upcoming motion picture Memphis. According to The Dissolve, the new Tim Sutton-direct piece sees Beal play an outsider artist “surrounded by beautiful women, legendary musicians, a stone-cold-hustler, a righteous preacher, and a wolfpack of kids.”
The upcoming movie is one of several projects to be funded by a new grant from the Venice Biennale Cinema College aimed at helping and supporting films by up-and-comers. Aside from the Chicago-based Beal, Memphis’ cast is made up entirely by non-actors found in the city. In addition to starring in the movie Beal also wrote and recorded the film’s soundtrack.
