Last month Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett had a little fun by posting a number of mock acceptance speeches for this year’s Grammy ceremony. Taking things to a whole other level entirely, Everett has come forth with an “unseen outtake” from the 1998 BRIT Awards, where Eels were awards the “Best International Newcomer” award but were unable to attend the ceremony. Apparently when asked who he would like to present the award at a pre-tape presentation, Everett requested Spinal Tap, who were evidently confused that they were merely presenting and not winning the award themselves.
Click below to watch the clip which may or may not have been recorded yesterday. Eels’ new album Wonderful, Glorious is out Feb. 5.
