Not that they’ve been away that long (they only broke up in 2012), but Ween have reunited. The experimental duo of Aaron Freeman (aka Gene Ween) and Mickey Melchiondo Jr. (aka Dean Ween) called it quits in May 2012 after 25 years of being together and played their then final show on New Year’s Eve 2012 in Denver. Now Ween have announced two reunion shows next Presidents’ Day weekend, February 12 and 13, at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Above is the poster and below is a trailer.
The band promises in a press release that the shows are “going to be fucking mind-blowing” and that as well as playing deep catalog cuts they will be trying “new stuff that nobody has ever heard live before.”
“I can’t wait to get on that stage and hear how happy this makes people,” Freeman also said in the press release.
“Ween is an extension of who we are,” Melchiondo added. “It’s not a persona that we put on to go onstage.”
Single day tickets are $45 (GA floor) and $38.75 (GA stands) and two-day passes are $85 (GA floor) and $75 (GA stands). Ticket requests can be made here. Info on VIP and travel packages is here.
