Talk In Tongues kept a diary of their SXSW 2015 experience. The Los Angeles-based psych-rock band has drawn favorable comparisons to Tame Impala and Temples and are set to release their debut album, Alone With a Friend, on May 19 via Fairfax Recordings. The core of the band is vocalist McCoy Kirgo, guitarist Garrett Zeile, bassist Waylon Rector, and drummer Bryan DeLeon. Talk In Tongues played Under the Radar’s official SXSW showcase this year at Central Presbyterian Church (see their final photo here.

Day 1:

Here’s our “The Road to Austin” post.

Day 2:

The first day in Austin was pretty exciting, our first showcase went well despite some technical difficulties.

Later on we saw Fairfax Recordings’ very own Amason at some Taco Bell warehouse. What a good band full of beautiful people.

We saw Spoon and also celebrated our keyboard player Cassandra’s 21st birthday.

Day 3:

Besides our second showcase going really well, there were free S’mores there as well. The true highlight of the night.

Day 4:

Finally got BBQ.

After our showcase we caught Viet Cong and their one armed drummer. Bryan couldn’t stop talking about them for the rest of the week.

Day 5:

On Thursday we really got to see a lot of cool stuff, the first being Swervedriver. They still got it.

Bryan actually waited in line to see Travis Scott but it was worth it

At the end of the night we all met up to see Run The Jewels and had a blast. As you can see, Waylon especially enjoyed himself.

Day 6:

On the last day we had three shows, which went surprisingly smoothly. We also saw Mew, which is what we had been waiting for the entire week. It feels like everyone we talked to was waiting for it too. They’re back.

Our last show was in a beautiful church. A lot of friends showed up. It was a perfect way to end a very memorable week.

Yes that herringbone floor is inilrdcbee!  I am doing a lot of herringbone floors in my home in Marrakech but they are made out of bejmat handmade tile - creamy and neutral.  But I love the graphic punch of these.
