Premiere: Artistic Mocky Video For “Stop Time” ft. Nia Andrews

Oct 16, 2017

L.A.-by-way-of-Berlin transplant Mocky has a jewel of a new video for “Stop Time” featuring fellow Angeleno artist Nia Andrews and Under the Radar is happy to share the premiere. The vintage film stock look of flowing animation compliments the smooth edged pop tune and would play nicely as an installation in a modern art gallery. Watch it below.

Following the release of the fourth installation of his Moxtape series titled How To Hit What And How Hard, the hypnotic visual keeps up with the skipping final track. Directed by Rand Sevilla, ““Stop Time” sees Mocky now channeling filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky with whom he shares a songwriting credit on his album Saskamodie. Mocky plays everyhing on How To Hit What And How Hard which he recorded in his self built LA studio. In addition to the lovely vocals of Andrews, invited to contribute were Gonzales and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson on the exquisite “Desiree” and Pegasus Warning, Joey Dosik and Aponte Poro on a variety of instruments.

According to Mocky: “Everything began with me hitting something, and during the process, I realized that in the modern musical environment, “how”, “what” and “how hard” you hit something make all the difference.”

In a very cool move, Mocky is opening the hood on this “how-to kit” of a record, releasing all of the isolated, separated instruments as samples in an “Unpacked Edition”, allowing others to make their own works recreated from Mocky’s handmade blueprint.

Mocky’s new solo project succeeds his recent work producing Feist’s groundbreaking album Pleasure and co-writing five songs with Kelela for her recently released debut album Take Me Apart.
