Arcade Fire‘s had lots of fun these past few weeks previewing some brand new material. First, there was a rumor of a 12-inch single entitled, “The Suburbs” b/w “Month of May,” and then they dangled a carrot over our heads with a pair of painfully truncated, interactive snippets via their site. And now, you can stream/download the genuine articles. They’re very summery and add a nice layer of grime to the band’s discography. (Downloads via Thirty BPM.)
In other AF news, the Guardian posted about a group of Canadian high schoolers putting on a musical inspired by the indie band’s sophomore LP, Neon Bible. They’ve dubbed the band-endorsed play “The Neon Bible Project,” and it debuts tonight at Ottawa’s Canterbury High School, the alma mater of Arcade Fire double bassist and accordionist Richard Reed Parry. The production will feature every track off Neon Bible, set against the backdrop of a dystopian future. The students will also perform the musical at Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.
