Conor Oberst, backed by The Mystic Valley Band, will be releasing their second full-length effort Outer South on May 5th.  As a preface to both the release and an upcoming U.S. tour, the band will offer up a free documentary (made by guitar-tech Paul Schaffart) online.

Replete with behind-the-scenes footage from the 2008 worldwide tour and recording sessions for Outer South in El Paso, Texas, the entire documentary will be available for streaming and HD download on Causecast.org, IFC.com, conoroberst.com, mergerecords.com, and wichita-recordings.com beginning April 15th. Partner sites IFC.com, The Huffington Post, and MySpace Impact will have exclusive content from the documentary as well.

Though the content will be made available for free, the band hopes to encourage donations for the causes associated with Causecast.org.

Outer South will be available May 5th on Merge Records, and the track “Nikorette” is available as a free download now on mergerecords.com and conoroberst.com.  You can pre-order the album through conoroberst.bigcartel.com
