Frankie Rose is releasing a sci-fi themed new album, Cage Tropical, on August 11 via Slumberland/Grey Market. Previously she shared its first single, “Trouble,” via a visual that included a phone number for a UFO hotline. Now she has shared another song from the record, “Red Museum,” via its video directed by Geneva Jacuzzi. Watch the strange clip below, followed by her upcoming tour dates.

Rose had this to say about the song in the press release: “‘Red Museum’ is a love song. It’s a portrait of the kind of fearful thoughts that can run through a person’s head upon the possibility of caring for another person.”

Long a fixture in the Brooklyn scene, Rose decided to move back to her family home in Los Angeles, but it didn’t quite go as planned. “I moved to LA, drama ensued and I ended up on a catering truck,” she said in a previous press release. “I was like, how can this be my life after being a touring musician and living off of music. I had really lost my way and I thought I was totally done.”

Luckily Rose soon teamed up with producer Jorge Elbrecht (Tamaryn, Gang Gang Dance, No Joy, Violens) to begin work on the new album, her fourth and the follow-up to 2013’s Herein Wild (not including 2014’s Careers, the one album she did a s member of Beverly).

A previous press release said Cage Tropical is full of “sci-fi references and ‘80s influences.”

“My references aren’t just music,” said Rose, “I love old sci-fi. They Live is one of my favorite movies ever, same with Suspiria. ‘80s sci-fi movies with a John Carpenter soundtrack, with silly synths - that makes it into my file, to the point that I’ll write lyrics incorporating that kind of stuff. It’s in there.”
