Iggy Pop released a new album, Post Pop Depression, last year via Loma Vista. Now he has shared a new lo-fi song, “Asshole Blues.” It is the inaugural release in a new flexi disc series being launched by Mag Mag, the label run by Miami indie rockers Jacuzzi Boys. The song features simply Pop and an acoustic guitar and almost sounds like a dusty newly discovered blues rarity. It’s out April 21. Listen below via Rolling Stone (who premiered it).

Iggy Pop had this to say to Rolling Stone about the song: “I wrote a blues song about an asshole who’s out to get me. It’s full of negative energy. Listen at you own risk. It’s fun to play the blues”

Jacuzzi Boys approached Pop after opening for him at one of his shows. They had this to say to Rolling Stone: “Basically the flexis will serve as a place where artists can do as they please. [It’s] a place to exercise your most experimental desires or keep it 101. No rules. We’re just trying to turn folks on to stuff we find interesting. We’re as curious as anyone else might be to see how it all unfolds.”
