Self-Titled Fourth Album Now Due September 7

Interpol have premiered on their website the video for “Lights,” the first single from their forthcoming self-titled fourth album, which marks their return to Matador Records and is now due September 7 (bumped up a week from September 14). The creepy video is below and is also available as a free HD download from the band’s website. The clip was directed by Los Angeles-based artist Charlie White, who previously helmed Interpol’s “Evil” video. The band, now minus Carlos D, doesn’t actually appear in the weird video, instead three women are engaged in “a closely guarded pheromone-harvesting ritual” in a sparse room. A syringe is involved. The clip opens with this bizarre title card: “Deep within the inner chambers of the Three-horned Rhinoceros Beetle (Chalcosoma caucaus), a closely guarded pheromone-harvesting ritual is about to begin.”
Interpol announced the video via their mailing list, writing: “We’d like to share with you our clip for ‘Lights’ directed by Mr. Charlie White. Before this clip is available anywhere else, we’re posting it here as an HD download, free for you. We’re amazed by it, and think you’ll enjoy seeing it as the director intended it to be seen - in high quality. It takes a couple minutes to download, but trust us, it is worth it.”
Download the HD video from Interpol’s website or watch it below.
