Back in mid-December Martador Records announced the launch of a subscription 7’’ series called “Singles Going Home Alone” that would release rare and exclusive tracks from its stable of artists.
The first in the new sale series was a split single by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and ‘80s glam-metal group L.A. Guns, where Malkmus and his band covered the latter’s 1989 track “Wheels of Fire” and the Guns covered “Gorgeous George” off Malkmus’ recently released Mirror Traffic.
Though the single was released on Jan. 17, it’s only been since this morning that fans who couldn’t shell the $45-$70 for the subscription have gotten the chance to hear anything from it, as it was recently played on the Canadian community radio station CJSR. You can listen to by clicking here. Jump to the 1:48 mark to stream the performance.
